metal usb c very hot

hi i have moved all my music files to 3 sandisk usb c metal pendrives ,today when i got in the car for a long trip i decided to change the mmory drive,when i went to pull it out it was really hot to touch,being a metal case it was very noticeable,i put a new stick in and checked it after a while and it too was very hot,is this normal??/

Not sure if considered normal but I have noticed the same - pretty hot to touch
