Hi Everyone,

I'm new here and I'm hoping I will be able to rely on your experience and expertise with the Kamiq.
I recently topped up my screen wash and as I was pouring I heard a whirling sound coming from roughly the middle of the engine bay, deep, deep inside the engine. I didn't think much of it and continued topping up.
When I turned the engine on to clean my windscreen with my newly topped up windscreen washer fluid, nothing came out. I thought maybe the levels need to sort themselves out, so I went for a drive and once again tried both the front and the back washers but nothing is coming out.
What are things I can try myself to fix the issue, before I fork out £200 (or more) to get it fixed?

Not a solution, but to clarify to current situation, do you hear the pumps whir when you try to use, or stone dead? i.e. to suggest whether it's electrical or a blockage.

There are all kinds of whirs the car makes when you think it should be silent, the noise when filling was probably not related.

Hi, thank you for your reply! :D

The situation looks dire... there is no whirring sound unfortunately, and it is not the fuse as I checked that with my brother in law...
Probably need a new pump then?

Fear so. If it's outside warranty, as it sounds is the case if you're talking costs, I'd check out a local mechanic. It shouldn't be a specialist job, and the pump itself should be under £20.

Okay, so the issue has been sorted, with a replacement pump as suggested, and I thought I'll post on here what I ended up doing for anyone looking for a solution.
This is the pump I bought: https://www.autodoc.co.uk/meyle/2117145
And here's a link showing a replacement process (it's for a Golf, I think, but honestly everything was in the same place 😅)

Hope it helps 😊
